The Grecale is a new SUV that sits below the Levante, and should give Maserati’s sales a strong tailwind, but where does the name come from?
Like many other Maseratis, both past and present, it is named after a wind that blows around the Mediterranean Sea.
According to the company, “The Gregale (Grecale in Italian) is a north-easterly Mediterranean wind.”
Other famous winds that have ended as Maserati names include the Mistral (1963), Ghibli (1967), Bora (1971), Khamsin (1974), and Levante (2016).
